Our 10 Best Things to Experience While in Phuket
We’ve put together a quick little blog about the best experiences we’ve come across whilst visiting and living in Phuket. Experience Phuket culture with these suggestions:
Shopping Experience
Some of our favourite places to experience Phuket shopping include Central Festival Phuket, Jungceylon Shopping Complex, Phuket Weekend Markets, Karon Bazaar and Banana Walk Shopping Mall.
Monkey temple in Phuket town
The Monkey temple is a write of passage when in Phuket. The monkey temple is located in Phuket town and costs 10 Baht to enter. It is surrounded by monkeys, but be careful! and arm yourself with treats!
Bungee jump or skywalk at Patong Beach
These two activities are run by experienced professionals and are completely safe. If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, bungee jumping is perfect for you – your heart will be pounding when you jump off or walk out into thin air, but it will be an exhilarating experience! If you aren’t so much into adrenaline, the skywalk is perfect, with harnesses included for extra peace of mind.
Thai Massages
This one is obvious. Everyone has at least heard of a Thai Massage, so when in Rome! You will find the best messages anywhere in Phuket. End the day with massages and spa services at Patong or Kata beaches.
Snorkelling
Phuket is famous for its snorkelling experiences. Our favourite place is Ko Racha Yai Island, just south of Chalong bay, free from the crowds and pollution of Patong Beach but no less beautiful.
Other favourites include: Freedom Beach, Ao Sane Beach, Merlin Beach, Ya Nui Beach and Banana Beach
Climbing Karon Viewpoint
Karon Viewpoint has a beautiful view of Karon Beach and the mountains. See for yourself!
Thai Cooking Class Experience
There are many Thai cooking classes in Phuket. If you’re looking to learn to cook traditional Thai cuisine, we suggest Phuket Thai Cookery. They offer informative lessons with beautiful sea views. You will learn four traditional dishes and one dessert and receive either a fruit carving or curry paste making lesson within a day.
Phuket Big Buddha
Another obvious but overlooked suggestion from us: visiting the Big Buddha. Experiencing Buddism at the big buddha is an integral part of Thai culture. Did we mention the beautiful sunsets as well?
James Bond Island and Phi Phi Island
Hop on one of the many ferries that run daily from Phuket to Phi Phi Island, or James Bond Island, and visit where The Man With The Golden Gun was filmed in 1974.
Explore Restaurants and Street Food Vendors
To further your experience within Thai culture, you must try the many different Thai dishes from the street food vendors and restaurants around. See our 6 Best Restaurants to try in Phuket, Blog for more.
